Army Sgt. Javier Marin, Jr. 29, of Mission, Texas died in Mohammed Sacran, Iraq, when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle overturned. He was assigned to the 2d Battalion, 2d Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany. He died on January 24, 2005.

Sgt Javier Marin’s mother, Leslie Garza, came to the Nielsen’s home to receive the quilt Betty made for her. Emotions were very high when we unfolded Leslie’s quilt. The first thing she did was touch the picture of her son that was on the quilt, and through her tears she said “My Baby My Baby”. When she is having a bad day she can wrap herself in her quilt and feel her loved one.
