Raymond Abellera Nueve

SFC Raymond Abellera Nueve was born in Quezon City, Philippines on September 25, 1969. He entered military service in June 1992 and attended Basic Training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He completed his Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. SFC Nueve was first assigned to the US Army AEROMED RSH LAB at Ft. Rucker, Alabama in January 1993 as a Medical Laboratory Specialist. His long Army career later included one tour at the Schweinfurt Health Clinic in Germany, a second assignment at Ft. Rucker, Alabama and assignments at Ft.Sill, Oklahoma as MLT Phase II Instructor, and the Los Angeles Recruiting Battalion as a Recruiter. His final duty station was at WRAIR in Maryland where he served as the NCOIC of the Experimental Therapeutics Division.
His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3rd oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal (3rd oak leaf cluster), Army Good Conduct Medal (bronze clasp with four knots). National Defense Service Medal (with bronze star), Global War on Terrorism Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with numeral “3”), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, Air Assault Badge and the Recruiter Ring.
A Note From His Family
Freedom Quilts made a quilt for Priscilla and her children in honor of Raymond Abellera Nueve. Recently, she was so kind to send us a little note and a picture of her children with their quilt and a photo of their father.
This is the note she sent us:
“Hi Betty. Thank you. I received the beautiful quilt. I was teary eyed when I saw it. Attached is a picture of our kids. Again, I thank you. God bless you…Priscilla”
